Having children is a blessing – but it can also be exhausting, especially if you’re working on home renovation projects. If you want to update your Bethesda, MD home’s interior painting or exterior painting, but aren’t sure how to keep your kids occupied, try some of these creative fall house painting projects for kids. Not only will they keep your children entertained – they’ll also brighten up your home décor with a little fall spirit.
Apple Print Bunting
Want an autumn-themed bunting for your fireplace mantle – all made by your kids? We have the answer, with a festive apple print bunting. All you’ll need is burlap, tempura paint (any colors) paintbrushes, an apple, and newspaper. Cover your house painting area with newspaper, cut burlap into 6-inch squares, slice an apple in half, and led your kids take the lead.
By painting the exposed flat side of the apple and stamping it onto the burlap, it perfectly replicates the shape of an apple. You (or your older children) can paint apple seeds and a stem onto each print. Weave string through the burlap squares and hang it from your fireplace mantel.
As you work on your Chevy Chase, MD home’s exterior painting, your kids can be happily painting inside. But, they won’t be painting your home’s walls – leave that up to our expert interior painters!
Instead, they’ll be painting gourds. Nothing screams autumn more than gourds, and we think kids will have a fun time adding their own creativity to these natural decorations. Give them several paint color options, a few paintbrushes, and a whole bunch of gourds. Soon, you’ll have the perfect fall-inspired centerpiece for your Thanksgiving meal!
Handprint Tree Painting Project
We can’t think of anything kids love more than getting a little messy. As long as you prepare your art area (think: lots of newspaper), your kids will love this project – and you’ll love the outcome. After helping them paint a brown trunk onto cardstock, give them free range with red, yellow, and orange craft paints.
They can paint their handprint and stamp it above the tree over and over in different colors. Eventually, an autumn-colored tree will begin to take place. Perfect for young children – and for fall décor on your refrigerator!
Those are three of our favorite fall-inspired painting projects for kids. And, we think you’ll like them too, especially if you’re trying to steal time away by finishing up your interior painting or exterior painting.
